moon landing

While everyone is worrying about the economy, terrorism and making swine flu action plans
(the one in our office involved stocking up on cheap tissues & and putting up patronising posters)
...It was refreshing to transport my mind to the moon, for the 40th anniversary of the moon landing.

Its hard to imagine how it would have felt to watch live the first people to ever walk on the moon,
However, I have a feeling that as much as I would be in awe, I would be shocked at what an alarming waste of money the whole thing was.
With all the problems on earth, it seems a little irresponsible to wander off throwing around millions of dollars.

But I guess it's the human instinct for exploration that will keep us expanding out till there is nowhere left to go,

I wonder if in a few hundred years there will be people settled on the moon and mars?
and cruises for the super-rich around Saturn?

The earth would probably be better off if we left home and it carried on without us.
